Memento Mori- Solid Brass Coin (Hand Finished)

Memento Mori- "remember you must die", or "remember death". Such a simple phrase, but one that encourages deep reflection upon ones life, and moreover the way that they live from day to day. Some will read that and think of a dark connotation, however perception is reality. This statement is one that should awaken your senses, driving you to be the best version of you, and making each moment count... EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.

  This Challenge Coin was put together by some recent art that I used on a customized Zippo. There's never a time that I don't include at least some form of meaning or symbolization on my work, and this Challenge Coin is another perfect example. The difference is, the art and the words on this Coin will have it's own meaning to whoever holds it. 

  Made from solid brass, the Memento Mori Coin has the same reeding (grooved edges) as one that you might use as an actual form of currency. The artwork on the coin has been put together and edited to give off a classy look, but communicate the important message that this phrase holds. 

  Each illustration is deeply engraved on both sides. The "light rays" that emit from the center outward have not only a beautiful aesthetic, but an excellent tangible feel to them. Inscribed on the front face along with the skull & burning candle is, "Memento Mori". The back side has the same light rays along with the face of a pocket watch, with the words "Live each day like it's your last."

  These made-to-order coins are heavily brushed to a smooth satin finish, then deeply blackened, and once again brushed to a brighter satin. Hoppe's Number 9 is applied to help richen the overall finish.
