CUE 01/26 "Turtle Power"- TMNT Themed

"Booyakasha!" I have been wanting to make a TMNT themed item forever now... and here we are! TMNT were a huge part of not only my childhood, but while raising my two boys. My sons and I would sit there and watch Nickelodeon's TMNT just about every single day; they had the whole setup of playhouses, toys, figurines. So for me, this is a memory: a damn good one.

  CUEs serve as a reminder of something important, or a call to action. This CUE is a nostalgic reminder of a simpler time, and something that I think many of us can relate to. A CUE is pretty much the same thing as one of the Challenge Coins that I offer, with a few differences. The CUE is much thicker than a coin, has a slightly smaller diameter, and doesn't have the reeded edges. The thicker stock allows for a much deeper engrave when it comes to artwork. Also, CUEs are not made readily available, meaning that these are usually only obtainable via auction only.

  This piece is made from 100% solid brass. The front face has been engraved with some very cool TMNT themed artwork, featuring all of the Turtles. The artwork has an immense amount of detail and has been rendered from a 2D illustration into a 3D design for engraving. The opposing side of this CUE has been 3D engraved with some artwork that I put together featuring a manhole/sewer cover as a background, and the TMNT logo atop. On the outer edge of the CUE is "Turtle Power" in a TMNT themed font, and "01" with the 2026 year marking (Horseshoe & Clover).

  After engraving, the CUE was "softened" by conditioning the brass by hand, deeply blackening it, and then hand rubbing it to an antiqued finish. Hoppes #9 was applied to help richen the appearance.
