3Leaf Customs & Black Cross Ltd. Collaboration

One of my favorite makers to work with is Sam from Black Cross Ltd. Not only is he one helluva talented maker, but the dude is just straight down-to-earth! 

  This collaboration between us features a flagship model by each maker. I'll be straight with ya; when I first saw Sam's "Fisticuff" SFK, while I thought it was a beautiful design, I thought to myself that there was NO WAY that it could be comfortable... I stand corrected. This design, with all of its edges, and somewhat flat areas, just sits itself right into the hand, very similar to an oversized ring... that has a use ;)

  The No Luck Charm is a bit easier for me to write on, because it's my design. The NLC was meant to be a minimal carry and a backup to a backup; or a primary given the situation. The shape and layout of the Charm allows the user to DEPLOY IT from a pocket in ANY orientation that it sits, EMPLOY IT OVER ANY FINGER, and then reposition if needed/wanted. The rounded bottom coupled with the "hips" and finger insets, ensures a secure and comfortable grasp no matter the orientation it is used in. 

  These two pieces come from an overpour block of my Night Vision resin. Most of you already know, but while I mix all of my pigments to get the desired color, the main ingredient is Identifire Safety's proprietary pigments. 3Leaf Customs, LLC remains the only person/company outside of Identifire to be authorized to use their glow in products other than their own. Identifire is used for fire safety solutions the world over, enabling firefighters and first responders to locate and identify each other in dark or blacked out environments.

  Sam did the honor of precision machining these three pieces (bead included). Once I received the pieces, they were hand sanded up to an extremely high grit (think polishing grits), and then brought to a high polish to bring out the true color of these.

  The block that these originated from has four layers in total; a crystal clear layer embedded with gold foil, and a micro blue metal flake. The second being white glow with some added Identifire to add to the illumination, and the third and fourth layers being green and purple.

  You will find that both pieces have the respectful makers mark, with the exception of the bead that was cut from the stall of the No Luck Charm.
