Surrounding it are Roman numerals from a clock face, but intentionally, there are no hands. We never know the minute or hour that will be our last.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e  One face reads \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eMEMENTO MORI\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e. The other, \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eMEMENTO VIVERE\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e  For Marcus Aurelius, the Stoic Emperor of Rome, Memento Mori was not a morbid obsession. It was discipline. In his private journal, Meditations, he constantly reminded himself that he could die at any moment. Not to create fear, but to kill it. To strip away ego, vanity, and petty anger. To force himself to focus on what he could control: his character, his duty, his actions in the present moment. Remembering death was his tool for living virtuously.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e  Today we need it more than ever. We live like we have forever, so we put off the important things. Solid brass with an extremely deep engraved, antique relief that has been inlayed by hand with a crushed Nuclear Green Opal (lab grown). What's even cooler, is that this Opal is UV reactive! Under a black light or similar, the Opal will give off a GLOWING effect! While the colors of this Opal have a huge base of Green, you will get many other visual notes when looking at it, especially in different lighting! This Coin has been ground\/sanded through multiple stages, beginning at 80 grit, and working into the thousands... all before polishing with various compounds to bring out a lustrous shine and vividness.
